In 2009, we will offer our first ever Women’s Whitewater School. The school will be 5-days long on Oregon’s beautiful Rogue River. On the water each day, we will focus on traditional whitewater school topics such as boat navigation, guiding oar and paddle boats, and river safety. Each evening around the campfire, we will discuss the different aspects and challenges of being a women in the traditional male-dominated field of river guiding.
Our school will be taught by seasoned and successful women guides of varying ages. The instructors have all worked and boated privately on rivers throughout the western United States and some also have rafting company management experience, and can share this insight with school participants.
Our Women's Whitewater School is designed both for women who wish to become commercial rafting guides on Oregon's Rogue and California's Kern River, as well as for women who are interested in learning the skills necessary to guide on their own and to organize and lead private trips.
