This is the season for people to start thinking seriously about their summer rafting plans, whether guides or privates. I'd like to see a bunch of new serious rafters show up and start making something happen here.

I think folks sometimes sign up so that they can access the interior pages... you have to be a member to see any page other than the home. So, they sign up without putting information in and don't ever come back. If it gets real bad I will start d...

I just joined this network, and as soon as I scrolled down through the members, I was struck by the number of people who haven't put a photo or even any basic information on their profile. Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of a social networ...

About Me:
It's been over 15 years since I sold my rafting business and returned to civilian life. I started rafting in the early 1970s, joining friends for some wild and crazy paddle rafting on the Clackamas River. Then I got my own raft, rigged it for rowing, and started doing overnight raft trips. As time passed, I got bigger rafts and more rafts, and eventually bought one of the larger rafting companies in the Northwest. Those were great times, and the guides who worked for me were the best! They were some of the nicest people I've ever known--as were the folks we took down the rivers. Since selling the rafting company, I've continued doing river trips with friends and family. The highlight was our three-week Grand Canyon trip in 2007.
What is the next river you would like to run?
Hoping for another Middle Fork permit
My "River Philosophy" is:
Respect the river in every way. Take care of it and beware of it. The river is more powerful than you are, and if you treat it wrong it will eventually get even with you.

Yeah Eastern was still the Savages when I was there also but they changed it about a year after I left. My dad also went there many years before that. Yes this is a good place to live for a rafter. It sounds like you have had a great deal of fun on the rivers over the years.

Hey Ken, I just read your blog, interesting, I started rafting when I was a kid, my dad and I floated small and mostly flat rivers fishing in our old military life raft. I then took a class in rafting at EWSC. We started on the same section of the Spokane you mentioned then did the bowl and pitcher section, the grand ronde and a few of us ran the middle fork. For some reason I quit for many years after going into the Marines and just got back into it about six years years ago. I do a bit go guiding for a friend out of Maupin but mostly private boat, some friends and I did the Grand Canyon last September. Any way I just got a kick out of you blog. I live down in Silverton, maybe I will see you on a river sometime.
