I am working on my doctorate in clinical psychology. I married an avid kayaker and have been living with river slime ever since. December 2007 and January 2008 I spent 20 some days on the Colorado where I made some wonderful friends. Really, my first river trip! Now in between writing a dissertation and working at the Jail doing therapy I am on the , writing about the, putting together film of the RIVER.
My "River Philosophy" is:
Stay in the boat.

Hey, great to hear from you. Will is moving in this Tuesday/Wednesday and then we're planning on finding our own place soon after. We'll be sure to contact you guys and hopefully we can all go boating again or something. How was Ryan's campaign? I hope your job at the prison is going well!
I was in California guiding all summer, but now I am back in Idaho hanging out with Andrew. I would like to head to the white salmon here one of these days soon and do some more boating. How are you and Mr.Morgan doin?
Well... Let's get you on the water! I'm headed to Portland, can't wait to see you guys again. Maximum security prison sounds "interesting" - keep your button close by!
Sorry it didn't work out last weekend. I will be in Portland this weekend... maybe the four of us can do dinner or lunch or brunch. All I know is that if we do brunch you and I should get Mimosas and discuss the possibility of Mimosas on the Grand in 2009.
Well I drive a somewhat small car. It's a Toyota Yaris (two door) but gets 40 miles to the gallon. However, I just realized that I won't be able to leave here until 6:00 pm. I was promoted, so my hours have now changed. I really don't want to make you wait around for me, so if you want to take off earlier, go for it. Give me a call later tonight sometime and we can discuss it? Have a good day!
My brother Matt and his friend are flying up to Ashland on Thursday night. On Friday, we are going to go boating somewhere (not sure where yet) and maybe Ryan is joining us. Friday evening we are returning to Ashland. Dana is leaving Portland sometime Friday afternoon. If you (and Ryan if he doesn't come down for boating on Friday) and Dana car pool there are some distinct advantages that I can think of:
1) Two girls are always better than one
2) You can talk the whole way and the drive will be faster
3) You will save gas and this has some advantages of its own:
a) Gas = Money
b) Smaller carbon footprint
-Fewer Carbon Credits = More Money
-Smaller carbon footprint = More dead dinosaurs
4) Dana knows where I live and therefore I won't have to give directions, which I am bad at.
5) We can all be happy
On Saturday we have a few options. I am thinking we run Box Canyon of the Sacramento (class IV) because it is a cool run and has a fun put-in (and rapids). That evening we can return to Ashland or we can camp out. On Sunday we can run Scott (IV+/V-) and we will be back in Ashland by at least 5 pm. From there, you can carpool back up to Portland. Carpooling has some distinct advantages which I have already listed above.
What you will need:
1) A big smile
2) An enthusiastic heart
3) A beer-guzzling spirit
4) Maybe a tent if we camp out
5) Sleeping bags if we camp out
5) Any normal river gear (I have drysuits and helmets and lifejackets but I think you have a lifejacket and helmet)
6) A raincoat because it is raining and the raincoat will repel water off of your body much like a duck's oily feathers
We will be making some plans up on the fly, but luckily I have a lot of stuff here that we can take depending on the situation.
Lastly, my phone number is 541-282-3729. And, obviously Ryan is just a terrible person and I am sorry he has kept you uninformed. Perhaps a some whitewater will knock some sense into him.
PS: I think this is the longest post EVER on RiverGuides! Hooray!
Will said they'd be back in Ashland on Friday night, so I'm going to leave here at 3:30 or so and get there around 8:00. I believe they're going to raft the Scott and the Cal Salmon, which will both be day trips. Talk to Ryan about it, and if you want, give me a call if you're interested. I'm more than happy to drive; however, Ryan probably wants to bring his kayak. Anyway, my phone number is 971-241-7468. Hope to talk to you soon!
