Guiding Status:
It's Complicated
Rivers I've Run:
Upper Clackamas, North Umpqua, Deschutes, Colorado (Grand Canyon), North Santiam, Rogue, Sandy, Illinois, Spokane, Grand Rhonde, McKenzie, Upper Klamath, Lower Klamath. Tieton.
About Me:
I am kind of a hired gun, I do guide a bit during the summer for Gary S. at HDRO, Natural High Rafting and Freeman River Sports. I do a whole lot of private boating with my family and friends as well. For some odd reason I am back in school after many working on yet another degree. I have a great family and an awesome dog. When I am not on the river I teach Tai Chi at a mind body health center and teach Liu He Ba Fa an internal style of Kung Fu.
What is the next river you would like to run?
Owyhee, Middle Fork
My "River Philosophy" is:
Life is better on the river. While meditation is great, if one really wants to learn to be present in every moment just run a class five rapid, I really doubt that we have may wandering thoughts during the length of the run.

Rick,
That is the Main Salmon in Riggins, Idaho. This was taken of Jamie and crew at the Big Water Blowout June 6, 2009. We were the only company to make it through this rapid that day!

You've been around awhile if you still call Eastern Washington University EWSC--that's what it was called when I went there in the mid-60s, and we were The Savages, not the Eagles.

You have a nice bunch of river pictures there. I see a lot of familiar places. Now, about your Niagara Falls run (the Prospect Point line), how did that come out? It looks like you're going in a bit crooked. I used to live near Niagara, and we took family outings there several times a year. We were there in the early 50s when Marilyn Monroe was making her movie Niagara, and we were there when Prospect Point collapsed over the falls. And we didn't even have PhotoShop in those days!
